Leading health policy leaders, academics, researchers, medical professionals, and patients will explore perspectives on issues and best practices in pharmaceutical policy at a national invitation-only roundtable May 9th hosted by the Health Leadership Institute, DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University.

Good pharmaceutical policy should enhance access to effective new medicines, improve patient outcomes and promote the quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of an integrated healthcare system. The goal of this meeting is to develop consensus on priority areas and key components of a National Pharmaceutical Strategy that would ensure optimal pharmaceutical care for Canadians. Topics of discussion will include:

• The current landscape of pharmaceutical policy in Canada;
• The direction of the NPS and how that may affect patient health outcomes;
• Best practices and evidence based solutions to improve access to new medicines for Canadian patients.
