Seniors express high level of satisfaction with Medicare drug benefit.

According to a Wall Street Journal/ Harris Interactive Health-Care Poll conducted in the fall of 2006, the first year of the Medicare Part D drug benefit has been highly
successful among seniors. When asked “how do you feel about the prescription drug benefit for people on Medicare starting in 2006” eighty three percent of all adults surveyed approved.

A large majority (75%) of those enrolled said they were satisfied with their current drug plan. Similarly, an overwhelming majority (82%) say their plans have been easy to use and seventy percent (70%) say their plans have saved them money. In 2004, only 26 percent of people aged 65+ were pleased with the new Medicare bill. By the fall of 2006 nearly 60% of seniors enrolled in a Medicare drug plan were pleased with the new Medicare bill.
